Benefits - School Clothing Grants

What is it?

Parents or guardians of pupils who attend secondary school may be entitled to a uniform grant for their child.

Who is eligible?

You need to be in receipt of the following qualifying benefits:

  • Income Support
  • Income-based Jobseekers Allowance
  • Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
  • Child Tax Credit, but not Working Tax Credit
  • Support under part VI of the immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit

How much will I get?

If your child qualifies for a uniform grant it will be paid to you by cheque and a grant is usually given every 12 months providing that the parent or guardian still qualifies. 

How do I apply?

An application pack can be obtained from:

  • Schools
  • Council Customer Service Centres
  • Rochdale Boroughwide Housing Offices
  • Or ring the Revenues & Benefits Service on 0845 121 2970
