What is it?
There are two types of Industrial Injuries Benefits; Industrial
Injuries Benefit –Accidents and Industrial Injuries Benefit –
Diseases).
- Industrial Injuries Benefit – Accidents is paid to people who
are ill or disabled because of an accident/event at
work.
- Industrial Injuries Benefit – Diseases is paid to people who
are ill or disabled because of a disease caused by certain types of
work.
Who is eligible?
You may be entitled to Industrial Injuries Benefit – Accidents
if:
- You were employed when the accident/event happened.
- The accident/event that caused your illness or disability
happened in the United Kingdom.
- You cannot claim Industrial Injuries Benefit – Accidents, if
you were self-employed in work that caused your accident.
How much will I get?
The amount you get depends on:
- Age
- Seriousness of your disability-assessed by a doctor on a scale
of 1 to 100%
If you get Industrial Injuries Benefit – Accidents, this may
affect other benefits you might receive that depend on how much
money you have coming in.

Industrial Injuries Benefit –
Diseases
What is it?
There are two types of Industrial Injuries Benefits; Industrial
Injuries Benefit –Accidents and Industrial Injuries Benefit –
Diseases).
- Industrial Injuries Benefit – Accidents is paid to people who
are ill or disabled because of an accident/event at
work.
- Industrial Injures Benefit – Diseases is paid to people who are
ill or disabled because of a disease caused by certain types of
work.
Who is eligible?
You may be entitled to Industrial Injuries Benefit –
Diseases if you were
employed in a job that caused your disease. The
scheme covers more than
70 diseases, including:
- Disease caused by working with asbestos
- Asthma
- Chronic Bronchitis or Emphysema
- Deafness
- Pneumoconiosis (including Silicosis and Asbestosis)
- Tenosynovitis
- Prescribed disease A11 (previously known as vibration white
finger)
- You cannot claim Industrial Injuries Benefit – Diseases, if you
were self-employed in work that caused your disease.
How much will I get?
The amount you get depends on:
- Age
- Seriousness of your disability-assessed by a doctor on a scale
of 1 to 100%.
- For certain lung diseases, payment is made at the 100% rate
from the start of the claim.
If you get Industrial Injuries Benefit – Diseases, this may
affect other benefits you might receive that depend on how much
money you have coming in.
