Future Options for social housing in the borough
December 18, 2009, 08:24:36 AM

You may have read in our last tenants newsletters that, Professor Ian Cole, one of the country’s leading housing experts had agreed to chair an Investment and Involvement Commission to examine future options for how Council owned housing in the borough is financed and managed. The Commission is also considering recent Government announcements proposing changes to the way the current national Council housing finance system works.

So far the Commission, which is made up of RBH Board Members, Councillors and tenants, has met three times. It is exploring various future options in terms of how they might generate increased investment on properties and estates, ensure that there is continued funding available to improve services, help regenerate neighbourhoods and further increase tenant influence over decision making regarding the housing service.

The Commission will meet on two further occasions in the New Year and will then produce a report on future options for consideration by the Council.

If you want any further details about the Commission and its work please contact Sue Kershaw on 01706 273829
