Domestic violence - A safe place to go
If you need to move out of your home, the Homelessness Section will be able to find you a safe place to stay. This could be a women's refuge, hostel or temporary flat, depending on your needs and what's available. You will be able to stay as long as you need to. If you do not feel safe in the Rochdale area, you can go to another area and apply for housing. Under the Housing Act (1996), you do not need a local connection to apply for housing from another Council if you are escaping domestic violence. You should not be referred back to an area where you may be at risk. The Homelessness Section will also be able to advise you about longer term housing options. They can help you find permanent housing through Home Choice or a Housing Association. Home Choice is Rochdale Boroughwide Housing's lettings service. It's the easy way to find a home to rent in Rochdale, Middleton, Heywood, Littleborough and Milnrow. Home Choice aims to maximise the choices and help available to those who are looking for a home to rent. Domestic Violence
