What happens if I break the rules of my tenancy agreement?

If you break the rules set out in your tenancy agreement we will take further action. First an officer from your local housing office will contact you. We will give you the opportunity to correct the situation. However, we will also let you know what will happen if you continue to break the rules.

If you do not take this opportunity to sort the situation, your case will be referred to the Legal Services and Enforcement Team who will assess the situation and then take appropriate action. This could include:

•  An acceptable behaviour contract - an agreement between you, RBH and the police to behave in a specified manner.

•  A notice seeking possession - this is the first stage in getting a possession order for your home.

•  An injunction - an order of the court to prohibit certain behaviour, breach of which is a criminal offence.

We will always work with you to resolve the situation and help you to get relevant support, however if you continue to breach your tenancy agreement we will seek court action than could include evicting you. If you are evicted you may not be able to get housing with other local authorities or housing associations.
