Planned Maintenance - Need Extra Help and Support?

We realise when doing major work to your home that everyone is different and that some of you may need extra help and support.

We recognise that you may need extra support and help if you or someone living with you:

  • Has a physical or sensory disability
  • Has a mental illness
  • Is elderly
  • Has other medical or social needs

If you feel that you are anybody living in your home needs extra support or assistance during the work please contact your Development officer so that they can discuss and are aware of your needs.

What options are available to help me?
Temporary day time location

We can make arrangements to take you and any members of your family to a temporary location during the day whilst the work in going on. We can:

  • Arrange for you to spend the day at a community centre
  • Pay for taxis to take you to and form a relatives every day
  • Arrange for you to stay in a guest room at a sheltered scheme.
Disabled adaptations

We can arrange to fit disabled adaptations in your home when we are carrying out the work. For example, we can arrange to put in a walk-in shower instead of a bath if we are replacing your bathroom.

Unfortunately we can only fit adaptations to your home where we have planned to carry out the work. If you need other adaptations or equipment, for example a stair lift, ramps, external handrails, we will pass this information to the Council who will include them on their disabled facilities grant programme.

Help preparing for the work

If you are unable to prepare for the work yourself we can help you. If you are unable to move furniture and carpets yourself let your Development Officer know and they will arrange for someone to help you.

Other options

We can also:

  • Arrange for the work to be put back until you are able to cope with the disruption.
  • Arrange for special precautions or measures to be taken when we carry out the work to your home.
