Lodgers and subletting

If you want to take in a lodger you can do this without our permission. However, you should let us know. You should remember not to overcrowd your home and that taking in a lodger may affect ytour entitlement to Housing Benefit if you are claiming.

Subletting is different from lodging. You should get help and advice about this from your local housing office

The money you receive from subletting is classed as income and so you must let the Benefits Agency know if you are getting benefits.
