Your guide to the right to buy - How much discount will I get? HousesIf you are buying a house, the minimum discount allowed for two years tenancy is 32%. Additional discount of 1% for each extra complete years tenancy is allowed up to a maximum of 60% for 30 years or more. After 18th January 2005 tenants who need a minimum qualifying tenancy period of 5 years will receive a minimum discount of 35%. Flats and maisonettesIf you are buying a flat or maisonette, the minimum discount allowed for two years tenancy is 44%. Additional discount of 2% for each extra years tenancy is allowed up to a maximum of 70% for 15 years or more. After 18th January 2005 tenants who need a minimum qualifying period of 5 years will receive a minimum discount of 50%.
