Tenants Celebration and Information Day 2008
The RBH Celebration and Information Day held on 11th October at the Town Hall was a resounding success, with over 300 people turning up to sample the many activities on offer including circus skills, a home repair workshop and flower arranging, hanging basket and cookery demonstrations. Children were able to have a go at the Childrens Treasure Trail around the town hall, get their faces painted and play in the Doorstep Project Mobile Play van. A large “Tenants Achivements” exhibition received many positive comments and people were impressed by the number of other organisations exhibiting.
Visitors chatted to RBH staff about our services, recent successes and future plans. Quite a few tenants took advantage of the private interview room with computer access to our housing system to have a confidential one to one chat about their tenancy.
Gareth Swarbrick, RBH’s Acting Managing Director said “The theme of the day was celebrating the achievements of tenants. The display of photographs from tenants groups that showed all the activities and events that they have organised over the year for their communities was a big hit. I would like to say a big thank you to the tenant volunteers who have helped plan and run this event. The day was a big success. We intend to stick with this winning formula and hope that even more people join in next year”.
Good Neighbour Awards were presented by our two local MPs Jim Dobbin and Paul Rowen and winners of the ‘My Community’ photography competition received their prizes. Wardle High Band gave a rousing concert at lunchtime. Tenants and staff held tombolas, a raffle, auction, competitions and a book stall which raised £304.70 for the RBH Charity of the Year, Springhill Hospice.
One ticket for the raffle was not claimed on the day – if you have ticket number 84 please call the Tenant Participation Unit on 01706 273822 to claim your prize.
