Summary of cover

 

Loss or damage to Contents while in your Home by:

•  Fire, explosion, lightening, earthquake

•  Water or oil escaping from any fixed water or heating installation or domestic appliance including fixed fish tanks

•  The building being hit by an aircraft, flying object or anything falling from them or by a vehicle, train or animal

•  Falling trees or branches

•  Riot, civil commotion, strikes, labour or political disturbances

•  Malicious people or vandals

•  Storm or flood

•  Theft or attempted theft

Cover also includes:

•  Rent or other accommodation if your home cannot be lived in due to specified causes, including the cost of kennel accommodation for domestic pets

•  Temporary removal of your contents

•  Accidental breakage of mirrors, ceramic hobs, fixed glass in furniture and cookers, televisions, video recorders, hi-fi, DVD players and satellite decoders

•  Deep freeze contents

•  Tenant's liability and third liability

•  Accidental death

•  Lost or stolen keys

•  Replacing documents

•  Loss of metered water and oil

• Wedding and Christmas gifts

• Bogus officials

 

Cover limits:

•  a)   Pictures, works of art, collection of coins, medals or stamps, furs, ornaments - 20% of the contents sum insured

b) Jewellery, watches, binoculars, clocks, cameras and their equipment, camcorders, personal computers and their equipment, televisions and video recorders and any other property made of precious metal - 20% of the contents sum insured.

c) Up to £200 on credit cards

d) up to £200 for money

e) Compact discs, video tapes, cassettes, computer software and DVDs - £500 in all

•  Loss or damage to deep freezer contents up to £100

•  Cost of replacing locks to external doors up to £200 following either loss or theft of keys

•  Fixed allowance of £100 per bedroom and £200 for each other room for decoration

•  Tenant legal liability - up to 15% of the contents sum insured

•  Cost of alternative accommodation - up to 15% of the contents sum insured

•  Personal and occupiers liability to third parties - up to £2.5 million

•  Liability to employees - up to £5 million

•  Fatal injury to insured person or spouse by accident, fire or burglars in the home - compensation £5000

• Theft from domestic out buildings, garages and greenhouses - up to £250

• Cost of replacing documents - up to £500

•  Wedding and Christmas gifts - £1500

Policy exclusions

•  Accidental damage to contents, unless listed under Cover limits above

•  Scorching without a fire actually starting

•  Mechanical breakdown or electrical equipment

•  Personal possessions away from or outside your home.

 

Claims settlements

 

'New for old' replacement for all articles other than items of clothing and household linen and carpets over 5 years old, which are subject to deduction for wear and tear.
