"My Community" Photo Competition

Thanks to everyone who entered the “My Community” photography competition this year.

Paul Herrmann, professional photographer and Director of Redeye (the photography network)  said, “I really enjoyed judging this competition.  It was good that the entrants had really thought about the theme, “My Community”.  The photos told us things about the area and community that it’s hard to get across in words.  Francis Nutt produced a valuable record of the making of mosaics by residents at Chisholm Court and Emma Lord’s montage called “My community means working together” gives a taste of life in Chesham.  The winner, Peter Lord, from Wardle, produced some tranquil, almost nostalgic images from Rochdale Canal that should entice more visitors to the area.

The winners received vouchers and certificates and their photographs will be featured in the RBH calendar for 2009.  Sue Kershaw, Communities First Co-ordinator said, “We run this competition each year to encourage people to explore their community and share with us what makes it special.  The photographs are a snapshot in time to show future generations about the communities of today.  With this in mind we also ask Touchstones to add the photographs to their archives”.
