This section gives you information on building insurance and what you can claim for.

Insurance - what am I covered for?

Your home is insured against:

•  Fire

•  Explosion

•  Storm

•  Flood

•  Aircraft 

•  Subsidence 

•  Landslide

Only the cost of damage to the building is covered. You are strongly advised to take out your own contents insurance. A statement of the insurance cover provided is issued to new purchases but additional copies are available on request from the Rents and Right to Buy section.

How do I claim?

Contact the Rents and Right to Buy section and explain what has happened and what you think may have caused it. 

If a claim is the result of malicious damage or other criminal act you must obtain a crime reference number from the Police.

We will deal with the repairs and will make a claim on your behalf to the insurance company. If the costs can be recovered under the policy they will not be charged to you.

Please note:  If your lease is for a property at Kingfisher Court there is an excess of £100 applicable to all claims.  There is no excess for claims for other properties.
