Home Choice - Allocations Policy (Summary) Eligibility for RehousingThe Home Choice Register is a record of people who want and have been accepted for Council Housing. Anyone can apply for a home with Home Choice. This includes giving equal access to rehousing services to existing Rochdale residents and tenants, homeless people and out of town applicants. Rochdale Boroughwide Housing will consider the individual circumstances of the customer when deciding if the customer can join the Home Choice Register. Customers will be informed of whether they are eligible to join the Home Choice Register .Those who are refused are given the right of appeal. All customers will be accepted on the Home Choice Register for rehousing unless they are either :- 1. subject to immigration control and prescribed by the Secretary of State as ineligible or are not habitually resident in the common travel area (ie UK,Republic of Ireland,the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man) Or 2. guilty of unacceptable behaviour, serious enough to make him/her unsuitable to be a tenant (this will include the applicant or any member (s) of the household applying to be rehoused with the applicant. However, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing will rehouse statutorily homeless applicants in priority need, where the Council has exhausted all other reasonable options. Allocations Policy |
