Assignments and Successions

The Council/Rochdale Boroughwide Housing will follow the legal requirements of the 1985 Housing Act in considering assignments and succession.

In those cases where a request for a succession is made by applicants who do not satisfy the legal criteria, but can demonstrate continuous support for the deceased and residence for at least 12 months, such requests may be granted. Rochdale Boroughwide Housing will take into account the proper use of the property and the effect of granting a tenancy. Applicants in these discretionary circumstances, when applying for the granting of a tenancy, will be subject to the normal checks undertaken in connection with habitual residence and immigration
