Home Choice offers:-

1. The opportunity for customers to have more choice in where they live.
2. A simplified application form concentrating on the applicant’s wants and choices with simple questions to determine whether the applicant falls into the reasonable preference (priority) groups.
3. A quicker application processing system which will aim to process most applications the same day (or within 24 hours) and decide on eligibility to be rehoused, in complex cases, within 14 days of the application.
4. A simple and quick process for deciding preference on medical grounds.
5. Immediate debt and previous tenancy history checks (for anti social behaviour and recharges) as the application is processed. All applicants will be checked for ID, debt, anti social behaviour recharges and other landlord debts.
6. A user friendly website which offers customers the options of completing an application on line,viewing available ‘Choice’ properties and searching for the property they want.
7. A telephone call centre where applications can be requested, information on available properties can be given and advice on choosing the right home is offered.
8. Face to face applications, interviews, advice and property searches/details
9. A property shop where applicants can come in, check the availability of properties and speak to an advisor about rehousing.
