What is Direct Debit

Direct Debit is a way of paying your rent each month direct from your bank or building society account.

What are the advantages

It's Cheaper

If you choose to pay by direct debit we will pass on the savings to you.  With effect from April 2005 if you pay your rent by Direct Debit we will give you a discount on your rent of £10 each year.

Offers peace of mind

Direct Debit gives you peace of mind, knowing your rent is paid direct from your bank or building society account so you won’t miss the payment dates.

Offers flexibility

You can choose to pay on the 1st, 8th, 15th or 22nd of each month.

Is more convenient and safer

There is no need for trips to the housing office and no more queuing up to pay your rent.  There are no cheques to write, stamps to buy and no need to carry cash.  

 

It’s guaranteed

The Direct Debit Guarantee

• This guarantee is offered by all banks and building societies that take part in the Direct Debit Scheme.  The efficiency and security of the scheme is monitored and protected by your own bank or building society.
• If the amounts to be paid or the payment dates change, Rochdale Boroughwide Housing will notify you at least 10 working days in advance of your account being debited or as otherwise agreed.
• If an error is made by Rochdale Boroughwide Housing, Rochdale Council or by your bank or building society you are guaranteed a full and immediate refund from your branch of the amount paid.
• You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by writing to your Bank or Building Society.  Please also send a copy of your letter to us.

How to apply for Direct Debit
