Dig It grants are an opportunity for voluntary groups on our estates (including Tenants and Residents Associations - TRAs) to obtain funding for planting schemes to improve the look of their estate and benefit their communities.

Thanks to support from Gordon Rigg Garden Centre, All in One Garden and Leisure and Bowlee Garden Centre we were able to offer £2,500 in each of the following areas: Rochdale North, Rochdale South, Middleton, Heywood and Pennines.  Groups could apply for just a few pounds or up to £2,500 so they could consider planting up a flower bed or containers, installing hanging baskets, tree planting, or larger landscaping projects.  Groups could also combine their efforts to carry out a project that would benefit their township area rather than an individual estate.  It could be a summer project or bulbs for next spring.  It's was their choice!

By the closing date we had received 30 applications and our panel were able to approve 27 of these.  The grants will fund plants, bulbs, containers, compost, equipment etc. But, it's the commitment and hard work of tenants and residents who are volunteering to carry out the planting and maintenance that will result more colourful and pleasant surroundings and encourage everyone to respect their estates a little bit more.
