Participatory budgeting - You get £50,000, you decide how it’s spent!

Voting has now closed - this article is for information only.  Results to be announced in February 2011

Participatory Budget  50,000

A key element of our Value for Money Strategy is encouraging tenants to have more of a say in how money is spent.

In response to this the Board have set aside £50,000 and it will be up to tenants to decide where we allocate these resources.

Over the last few months we have been asking tenants for their ideas and suggestions for the type of schemes that could be delivered with this money and the Tenants’ Panel has now evaluated each idea to make sure that it is legal, feasible, can be delivered within the budget and benefits RBH tenants in some way.

Now it’s your turn to get involved! We need your help in deciding which of the suggestions should be funded.  Take a look at the list below and use the voting card sent to you inside the December issue of Tenants Talkback to indicate the three schemes you wish to vote for – indicating your first, second and third choice.

We will award three points for your first choice, two points for your second and one point for your third.  The scheme which attracts the most points will win.  If the winning scheme can be completed for under £50,000 the remainder of the money will be awarded to the next highest ranking scheme that can be delivered with the funds available.

If the winning scheme or schemes will directly affect individual tenants then we will need to consult with them to make sure that they are happy for the scheme(s) to go ahead.

We will announce the winning scheme(s) in February and follow this up with a feature in the Easter issue of Tenants Talkback.

If you have any questions please telephone Sue Kershaw on 01706 273829 email or Wayne Storey on 01706 273834 email.

Make sure you return your voting card by Monday 10th January to ensure your vote is counted.
