Equality and Diversity Policy
- Sexuality
RBH is committed to removing the discrimination and harassment that people face in their lives due to their sexuality and life choice.
There is no legal protection against this form of discrimination in employment or service provision. However, RBH is clear that lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender people will receive RBH services free of discrimination.
RBH will seek legal remedies (where appropriate) for any service user suffering harassment under the Protection from Harassment Act 1997.
RBH will :
- Address discrimination against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender employees and service users
- Work to deliver effective services which are appropriate to the needs of lesbians, gay men, bisexual and transgender people
- Recognise that sexuality should not be seen as a criterion for determining an individual’s suitability for a post
- Investigate and take appropriate action on all reported cases of homophobic harassment
- Be mindful of the rights of same sex couples under the Civil Partnership Act 2004 and effectively ‘give’ all same sex couples the same rights as heterosexual couples
