Equality and Diversity Policy
- Tenancy Support Services
RBH is committed to providing services to tenants and other customers in accordance with the Equality and Diversity Statement.
The Company recognises that segregation exists within the Borough and will work to break down existing barriers, by encouraging interaction and participation, to lead to cohesive communities on its estates.
In order to achieve this RBH will:
- Publicise widely its commitment to providing equality and diversity in service delivery and will communicate regularly with its customers through Tenants Talkback
- Provide regular training and guidance to all staff on the law and RBH’s policies and procedures
- Provide training for staff to raise cultural awareness and understanding of the needs of clients from different backgrounds
- Improve awareness of, and access to, services for groups which are currently under-represented, by introducing new initiatives such as a choice based lettings system
- Take positive steps to encourage applicants from under-represented groups to apply for tenancies and other services
- Ensure that tenants are consulted on a wide range of issues and provide support for Tenants and Residents Associations through RoFTRA. RBH will encourage representation of BME groups and will support boroughwide BME and disabled tenants focus groups
- Carry out regular satisfaction surveys to check what customers think of the service and address any gaps
- Investigate all acts of discrimination and harassment by a member of staff in accordance with procedures
- Provide a comprehensive tenant support service through its Housing Management Team
- Investigate and take appropriate action on all reported cases of harassment
- Ensure that offices and staff are welcoming and friendly
- Publish our complaints policy and deal with complaints seriously
