RBH appoints new Chief Executive
November 17, 2008, 04:59:11 PM

Rochdale Boroughwide Housing (RBH) today announced that it has appointed Gareth Swarbrick as its new Chief Executive following a full external recruitment exercise.

Gareth has for the last 18 months been the organisation’s Acting Managing Director following the retirement of Paul Neate in April 2007. Between 2002 and 2007 he was RBH’s Business Support Director and he was worked in Rochdale since 1992.

Born in Bolton, Gareth lived in Milnrow as a child and attended St Thomas’s Infant School in Newhey before his family moved to Oldham. A graduate of the University of Leeds he has worked in housing since 1989.

Gareth said "I am absolutely delighted to have been offered the opportunity to become RBH’s Chief Executive and I am really looking forward to working with the Board, tenants, and councillors and officers from the Council to deliver further improvements in the housing service and to ensure that RBH plays a full part in the regeneration of the borough.”

Gareth was appointed by the Board of RBH following a selection and interview process which also involved representatives from Rochdale Council.

Ian Agnew, RBH’s Chair, said “We were looking for someone with real leadership qualities to take RBH forward and to help us make a real difference to communities in the borough. The post was very widely advertised and we used professional head hunters to search for the strongest candidates and to help us assess them. Gareth was selected from a very strong field.
